The English banking system began to slow down many months ago and it does not look likely to convalesce in the foreseeable future. The economic crisis, paired off with the historical value of the £ compared to the Euro, and that yearly skiing break commences to appear like much more of a expense than last year.

This season skiers have been returning home from the holidays in the Alps with stories about the first-class skiing conditions as well as the jaw dropping expenses in holiday resorts with costs increased by 33 percent on the same period last year. The better news is that there are lots of discounted skiing holidays around, which in a lot of cases are offsetting the growth in expenses in the ski resorts. Notwithstanding it is time to be money aware. Fortunately we’ve written a list to saving on this year’s Chamonix skiing trip.

1. Pay in pounds – book with operators who have kept their prices in pounds and not shifted to Euros
2. Shop in the valley instead of the ski resort if you’re on a self catered holiday
3. Take sandwiches with you and stay out of the mountain restaurants
4. Discounted chalet holidays with breakfast dinner and wine included on all but one day
5. Eat in town instead of on the mountain if you must have a sit down meal at lunch
